Dominican Tree House Village

Samaná - Dominican Republic

Arrive at Airport (SDQ) before 2pm. Once you deplane, you will walk to customs (aduana) area. From there you will proceed through customs and baggage claim. After you leave customs you will see a bar/restaurant on the right side of the arrivals lobby called Airbar. Its seats underneath the escalator. If you purchase a meal or beverage there you can ask for the WiFi password and they will enter it directly in your phone so you can communicate without data or roaming charges. BIO members will be waiting at Airbar. After everybody is out we will take a bus all together to the Dominican Tree House Village.

The Village

Dominican Tree House Village is 3 hrs from the airport. We will only make one stop at a Texaco gas stations and market at the halfway point. Once we arrive at the Treehouse Village, we will hike a short distance from the parking lot to the lobby. Once you are assigned a cabin, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the village surroundings. Dinner will be served at 8pm. Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are NOT included, however, you can purchase them at the main treehouse bar.

On Monday we will rest and recharge.

We will ride Zip line in the morning, ride beach cruisers to Playa El Valle, and eat lunch at the beach. Feel free to also explore the cascade, rope swings, swimming pool, bonfire or yoga dome as well. Each cabin will have a private bathroom, bed, light bulb, mosquito net and storage locker. Feel free to tip the baggage and bartenders. There is no WiFi or cell service at the tree house Village. We will arrange for it to be available during the week a short distance away.

The Work Site

05/28/2018 – 05/30/2018
Our site is only a 30 minute trek (hike, then bike) from the Tree House. We will depart every morning at 8:30am. After a quick tour of the facility, we should start seeing patients around 9am. Lunch will be served on site and ready by 1pm. Expect to work until 6 or 7pm on each clinic day.

La Zona

Bring your key and luggage to breakfast, as we will be departing the Treehouse Village as soon as we are done. We will stop briefly at the Texaco station, and then proceed to the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo. Once there, we can shop for souvenirs and visit historical sites along Calle El Conde, Santo Domingo’s first commercial street. Feel free to purchase food or snacks, as we will not eat dinner until we arrive at our final hotel.

Emotions by hodelpa

Emotions by Hodelpa is and hour from the last stop. We have a reservation at Oregano at 8pm. Emotions is all inclusive, breakfast is served from 7 – 10am, lunch is from 12 – 3pm, dinner starts from 6 – 9pm, and a 24/7 snack bar is located in the beach area. You can enjoy the pools, spa, sauna and gym (mention BIO at the spa for a discount on services).

We will be sad to see you go, but we know that you will cherish this experience forever! The bus will leave to the airport at 10am. If your travel arrangements require a different departure time, please let us know in advance so we can arrange for a taxi.
