On this trip you’ll have the chance to explore a little bit of the beautiful and mystical island of the Dominican Republic. The journey starts with one of the most amazing hidden virgin beach up in the north coast where you’ll be able to make a positive impact on an under developed community.
After the health care and dental mission finishes you’ll spend the night walking around the first city of America! La Ciudad Colonial is the oldest city in the Caribbean with a lot of history and cultural richness that will completely make you fall in love of the country. Along this amazing journey you’ll also be able to meet the local entourage around the BIO local team and the community we focus on.
Students treat patients under the direct supervision of dentists and hygienists, who are asked to participate primarily as clinical mentors and educators. Each of our expeditions is accomplished with the permission and assistance of the department of public health. With a vision to transform lives and communities, B.I.O. provides opportunities for volunteerism, breaking down barriers to inter-professional collaboration among communities of healthcare professionals in the countries we serve

Our motto is work hard, play harder. We work with more than 350 patients in need of dental care our program offers a set of volunteer activities for an immersive social experience. If you are a Doctor, you’ll be working with more students guiding and teaching, for students the experience is like no other having real time cases of study while helping someone to have a better smile. As a normal volunteer you’ll have a task like the dental hygiene education program, translating between patients and students and doctors, organizing the tables, assisting the doctors, coordinating, etc.
Between this activities we also have some recreation around our program, the location of the program for March is in the middle of a valley with a beach where magic appears to be wandering all day.
We will ride the zip line in the morning, ride beach cruisers to Playa El Valle, and eat lunch at the beach. Feel free to also explore the cascade, rope swings, swimming pool, bonfire or yoga dome as well. Each cabin will have a private bathroom, bed, light bulb, mosquito net and storage locker. Feel free to tip the baggage and bartenders. There is no WiFi or cell service at the Tree House Village. We will arrange for it to be available during the week a short distance away.
VACATIONS AT THE CARIBBEAN: Santo Domingo, BEACH and RELAX
On the last day of the program we go to an amazing hotel located in Juan Dolio the closest beach to the Santo Domingo city. We have a tour planned to Ciudad Colonial, the first city of the continent where we will appreciate the colonial architecture and walk in the first commercial street of the Americas, El Conde. This area is filled with historic buildings like the first tavern of the Americas, we assure you that this is a place you will love!
Emotions by Hodelpa is an hour from the last stop. Emotions is all inclusive, breakfast is served from 7 – 10am, lunch is from 12 – 3pm, dinner starts from 6 – 9pm, and a 24/7 snack bar is located in the beach area. You can enjoy the pools, spa, sauna and gym (mention BIO at the spa for a discount on services).
